outlook 2000 - adressing fax with pst file

C

Cornelius Richter

Hi,

i have a problem sending faxes from outlook 2000 using a pst file for
sending messages. It works fine when i delete the existing outlook
profile and create a new profile, but i don't want to do that on all
client computers.
The fax could be sent by typing [MYFAX:FAX/12345] in the to field.
When i do that i get an error message "no transport provider was
available for delivery to this recipient". I found that normal outlook
messages uses the service EX, faxes uses MYFAX.
So my question is where are the possible transport services stored,
in the outlook profile? Can i change that without creating a new
profile on each client?

Kind Regards
Cornelius Richter

Hi,

as i mentioned before i don't think that this is a problem which has
something to do with the software. When the outlook profile is created
new then it works.
So which informations are stored in the outlook profile or in the .pst
file, the available addressing formats? Is there a tool to look at
this informations and to refresh them without creating a new profile?

Kind regards
Cornelius Richter

I can't answer your questions until you answer mine. This has everything to
do with the software. Not sure why you think it doesn't.

Hi,

why is it not possible to answer the question, i think that it is
independant from the installed fax software and is a microsoft
outlook/exchange issue.
I did some investigations and found that the possible transporters are
stored in the profiles in the registy under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft
Outlook Internet Settings\13dbb0c8aa05101a9bb000aa002fc45a

if it is not working in the value 24 with the name 01026687 the entry
is only EX.X400.SMTP

when it works the entry is EX.X400.SMTP and additional .MYFAX=*. .

Then i am abel to send to the address [MYFAX:......]. When i change
MYFAX to ABCDE i can send to [ABCDE:....] and get no transport error.

So where can i find a descripton of the registry key
....\13dbb0c8aa05101a9bb000aa002fc45a? Why is it such a cryptic number
and not a normal plain text self declaring name?

Can i import the new value to all client machines? Which problems
could occure? Is there a possibility to update the outlook profiles?

The message, of course.
I cleared my cache a week ago. I'm not going to repopulate it for just one
senescent post.

A senescent post is simply one that is so old that the original posts no
longer appear in the thread. I must clear my newsgroup cache at least once a
week so that it is manageable.
It is common courtesy at least to quote the posts when you reply so that
others can follow the thread. Forgive me for losing track, but I have a lot
to do other than try to recall posts from memory.
