Outlook 2000 and IE7 Beta

Scott

I recently installed IE7 7.0.5730.11 and it seems that around the same time
my outlook stoppped sending/receiving. I am using Windows XP Home 2000 SP2
and have Outlook 2000 SP3 (9.0.0.6627) . I have tried removing and
reinstalling both outlook and all of office but no luck. I use verizon as my
ISP (PPPOE) and am able to access the internet. When I try to send and
receive I get the following error message.

Internet Mail not registered properly. Please re-install and try
again....Error Number 0x80040154

I tried a system restore from before I installed IE7 but I get a message
saying that no changes were made between the two restore points (which is not
true)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have already gone done the path of uninstalling/reinstalling Office
2000 (and patching it back to where it was), the next file you would want to
check is:

inetcomm.dll

This is a file that is part of Windows XP. You should be able to *copy* the
file from c:\windows\system32\dllcache to c:\windows\system32.

Once you copied the file to the system32 directory, you can open a command
prompt and type:

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\inetcomm.dll

You should get a dialog box back that it was registered successfully.

Give Outlook another try at this point.

ps - when doing the above, you must have all email enabled apps closed.

Its a beautiful thing when you can actually send and receive emails again!
This did the trick, thanks very much for the quick response!

Have a great new year!
