I just installed Outlook 2000 (SP3, 9.0.0.6627) to use as my desktop
PIM, transferring from using the Palm Desktop. Outlook is not set to
be my mail client. This is on an XP Pro sp1 system, if it makes any
difference, and I have a few questions that I cannot find the answer to
in the help system. I am the only user of this machine, and no
additional accounts have been set up in Outlook.
When I start Outlook, it will alert me to an appointment that has
already gone by, if it has not yet generated an alert for it. The only
way I've found to stop that is to disable the alerts entirely. Is
there any way I can set Outlook to only display alerts for future
appointments, and specifically not for appointments whose due date/time
has already gone by?
I have Outlook set to use the Outlook Today as the startup view, via
Tools \ Options \ Other \ General \ Advanced, but it now always starts
in the Calendar view. What am I missing here?
Also regarding Outlook Today, I currently have one Task showing, dated
next March. The task itself is correct, but I don't need to see it
until it's due. How can I set this? If the answer is to use the
"Customize Outlook Today..." button, see the next item.
When trying to configure the Outlook Today view, the "Configure Outlook
Today..." button does nothing. I can click it until my mouse breaks,
but it has zero effect. I want to change the Tasks subview to show
only items that are either due now or immanently due (say, this week)
like the Calendar subview does. And, since I don't use Outlook for
email, I want to get rid of the Messages subview.
