Outlook 2000: can't repair broken .pst or .ost files

R

Riddim

I've tried running the repair tool, reinstalling Office, and running the
inbox repair tool. DNF. On the latter, the .PST and .OST files appear
with a broken line in them. When I try to use scanpst.exe, I get an error
message saying close all mail enabled programs. Both Outlook and Outlook
express are closed at the time. What other programs must I close, or what
else must I do here, please?

In the meantime, I can neither send nor receive mail. I've had to revert
to Outlook Express. When I leave any Outlook app open, within a few
minutes, I get a message saying Outlook had to close.

I'm running Outlook 2000 SR 1. on Windows XP, with all service packs
current. MS is on auto update, so all updates should be current. I'm
using a Gateway 550 GR PC. I'm also running an IPAQ 6515a with Autosynch.

I've posted this before, but have not seen a response.

Hi Riddim,
What other programs must I close, or what else must I do here, please?

For Outlook 2000 (in CW mode),

check your Task Manager => Process for: "Mapisp32.exe"

This .exe also must be closed.

Maybe it helps.
