Outlook 2000 Crash Problem

I recently installed Office 2K Premium on my WinXP
system. I have installed SR-1a and SP3 for Office as
well as the Outlook patch listen in Officeupdate.

Outlook continues to crash every time I start it. I
don't even see the splash screen. I get the "Microsoft
Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." error popup.

When clicking on more info:
AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.660 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000033b2

When clicking on technical info:

I have looked for answers all over MS's support pages and
can't find anything.

I have uninstalled Office2K completely and reinstalled
with new service packs and it didn't help. If you have
ANY ideas on what might be causing this please email me
at (e-mail address removed). It would vastly appreciated.

More Info:

Have now uninstalled and reinstalled again. Tried my
friend's serial number for the install because I found an
article that stated that certain SNs can cause a similar
problem... same issue (and SN doesn't match the pattern
they said would be an issue).

Have played around with compatibility settings (another
article mentioned this). No help.

Have repatched... trying to load after completing each
patch... No help.

I'm out of ideas. *cry*

Did you find any answers, I've been having the same problem since
yesterday--there doesn't seem to be any reason. OUtlook opens fine,
checks mail, will let me read and respond to mail but once its been
open about 2 minutes I get that "microsoft has encountered a problem
and needs to close" message. My more info is

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.6604 ModName: fldpub.dll
ModVer: 9.0.3425.0 Offset: 0002c5c7

its driving me crazy--any help?

I am had a similar problem, "access violation at (some hex number
here) trying to access memory at (another hex number here) the memory
could not be 'read'"

I am completely pissed off at this, as usual Microsoft has a
completely F'd up service pack. The only solution I could make work
was to un-install and then re-install Office 2000 (SP-1)

As a professional software developer myself, I know that some things
are more difficult - and error prone - than others, but this
particular error is obviously a result of both poor quality control,
and poor programming to begin with.

It seems particularly bad when you realise that huge numbers of people
will be applying this SP to help prevent a virus (SoBig and Slamer)
that is yet another result of Microsofts sloppy product delivery.

Another reason to look seriously at Linux - not that the relatively
recent price changes from Micro$oft wouldn't drive you that way anyway
!!!!
