Outlook 2000 Crashes Creating New Email

When a user creates a new email, he gets as far as typing the name into the
To field, before Outlook crashes to the Desktop with no explanation and no
error message. This occurs for some names in the address book but not for
others.
He can reply to messages with no problem

microsoft outlook 2000 sp3 9.0.06627

Windows XP Pro SP2

The only thing that has changed recently is that Skype has been installed

Please can anyone shed any light on this?
