I've got a custom installation of Office 2000 that I want to deploy via
Group Policy. All I really want to do with it is customize our exchange
server settings so that the user name is based on the user name of the
person who logs on (using %USERNAME% as our variable), and the exchange
server name is populated for that box.
The problem I am running into is that when the Outlook installation is
pushed down, these settings are not retained from the .MST file. The
GPO setting is fine, but the customized settings that i had made in the
MST file seem to not want to stick.
I am doing this over a test network with no exchange server on it. Now,
I have been able to successfully do this with Office 2003 pushed down
to XP without any problems (we are migrating in about 6-9 months to
XP/Office 2003). So, must I have an exchange server on my network using
Office 2000 for these settings to retain? I wouldn't think so since I
could do the same thing for Office 2003.
Thanks
Richard
