I have a PC running Windows XP Pro, with Office 2000 Professional. All
service packs and updates are up to date for both the OS and the application
suite.
Whenever I click on an email that has a PDF attachment, I get an hourglass
for anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds before it opens, regardless of the size of
the attachment. It could be 2kb or 2mb, same problem. The email is a mailbox
on an Exchange 2000 server.
The problem does not happen with attachments of other kinds, like DOC, or
XLS, AVI. Only with Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
I have done the following, with no luck:
- Uninstalled Office and reinstalled.
- Uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader and reinstalled.
- Uninstalled the Symantec Antivirus protection completely - still same
problem
- Deleted all temp files in the c:\documents and settings\ profile folder
- Tried creating a new profile as a different user, same problem.
Has anyone had any experience with this? On other PCs, I can open the same
mailbox and open the same emails with no delays whatsoever. Any ideas will be
appreciated.
