Outlook 2000 error opening Personal Folders

BillS

When I try to expand Personal Folders, I get this error: "Unable to expand
the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. The information store
could not be opened."
I ran the Inbox Repair Tool, with no effect (it found only minor
inconsistencies).
I've been unable to find any information relevant to this particular error.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

Create a new pst-file and set it as the default delivery location. Then see
if you can connect to it or try to open it on another computer with Outlook
installed.

Thanks. I'm not sure if what I did was right. I created a new .pst called
Test. I then opened Test. At that point, in the folders panel in Outlook I
had Outlook Today and two instances of Personal Folders (the old one and the
new one from Test).
I set Test to receive POP mail deliveries. At one point or another I got a
warning about old shortcuts being moved. Somehow, I ended up this way:
Outlook Today [Personal Folders]
Personal Folders

My old Personal Folders seem to be part of the 'Outlook Today' folder; the
new Personal Folders, from Test, is listed separately. I can open both of
them. I haven't had the error occur again. I don't know for sure that things
are better. But thanks for the ideas.

You're welcome! :)
At this point you might want to decide to move/copy your items from your
original pst-file to the new one just in case there still is a corruption in
your original pst-file.
