Outlook 2000\Expired Passwords

I have clients running Windows 2000 Pro that are not members of the domain. The users do not log into the domain, they only authenticate to Novell. When the users launch Outlook they get prompted to log into the domain which is expected. The problem is when the user's password expires, every 90 days, Outlook will freeze. Is there a way for Outlook to prompt users when their passwords are about to expire. This is a Windows 2000 native mode AD running Exchange 2000 sp3 plus the rollup patches
