Outlook 2000 Forgets Passwords when restarted

I have Outlook 2000 on an HP laptop with Windows XP home. When I put in my mail accounts in outlook, everytime outlook is re-started - it forgets the mail account's passwords.I of course check the save password boxes in the initial setup and wen it gives the "incorrect password" error when polling the email servers. It will remember the passwords until you shut down or close Outlook, then it forgets again?? Help
