I have a problem on many Windows 2000 SP4 + hotfixes PCs running Office 2000
SP3 Outlook (version 9.0.0.6627). A couple of seconds after Outlook 2000
opens it hangs for thirty seconds or more, it will then responsive , then
hang repeat over and over. Doesn't matter if I logon as as admin or user.
Creating the profile does not fix. Hangs regardless of whether in preview
panel or in Outlook menus so not an attachment or preview panel problem.
Believe it started happening after a patch tuesday that had Outlook
Express/Internet Explorer 6 patches. Upgrading the PC to Windows XP and
Office XP does not fix the problem. Problem does seem limited to PCs running
Windows 2000 when the patches came out. Have eliminated anti-virus and
outlook addons as causes. If I run file monitoring I see long pauses, the
files it accesses after the pauses seem to be Mapi files (mapisvc.inf,
msafd.dll) though this might not be the cause. Maybe the transports are
stuffed? Any help greatly appreciated.
