Outlook 2000 hangs on Send/Receive to Exchange Server

We have a user with Outlook 2000 on W2KPro. Outlook starts fine, shows all
messages in Inbox just fine, and can send messages OK, but new incoming
messages are not immediately displayed. If user hits Send/Receive, Outlook
locks up, must be shut down with Task Manager. BUT if user opens another
folder, say Outbox, and then returns to Inbox, there are all the new
messages!
Any suggestions?
