Outlook 2000 Hyperlinks

Q

Hello,

This is my first post after trying all the various fixits for the hyperlink
not working in emails. I have tried all the suggestions, to include verifying
the registry settings, resetting the default, uninstalling IE8, uninstalling
Office Suite w/o deleting folders of emails and calendar data. I've cleared
the caches, run Cleanup to empty out everything. I even went in and clicked
on folder options and view and followed the MS instructions to no avail.

I've registered the dll's that were suggested and all re-register except
mshmtl.dll, saying it was loaded but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was
not found, and dll not registered. Another site mentioned re-registering
msjava.dll, and that gave me the message LoadLibrary ("msjava.dll") failed.
the specific module could not be found. At one point I was given a window to
put in my OS disk to fix the file, but when I did this, it would ask me for
some other disk? I looked on the disk and found the file in question, but it
would not recognize it, and when I put in in a folder on my C:\ it wouldn't
recognize that either.

When I click on the email link I would get a window to find the executeable
file, but that didn't work either upon clicking on iexplore.exe, and now
after reinstalling IE8 I don't even get this window to open up. Thought IE
doesn't open, and it did this even before I uninstalled/reinstalled
everything, I noticed when I opened windows task manager that it shows
iexlorer.exe in the list. Go figure.

Any other ideas would be appreciated. My computer is clean, there are no
viruses, malware or anything else. I have recently been through a HJ check by
an expert and he ran me through every imaginable thing to ensure my machine
was clean to include root kits. I run malwarebytes, comodo, and a-squared.

I haven't run the repair console, as there has been conflicting ways to run
it that I've found on tech sites, one said to run r for repair and another
one said don't. I'm not keen on having to reinstall the OS, but I can if I
have to as I have backups of everything.

Which could indicate an issue with IE8. Tried resetting it back to default
already?
In Internet Options in IE8 (or Control Panel), select the Advanced tab and
use the Reset... button and try again.

Also, have you ever had another browser installed on this machine? If so,
tried the registry fix located here already?

Also, which version of Windows are we talking about here?
