Outlook 2000 mysteriously closes

When attempting to send a new message, clicking on the TO button then brings
up the window with the address book options in it. By selecting Contacts, can
then see a dropdown of all lisings in CONTACTS folder. However, when trying
to scroll down this list, Outlook temporarily freezes, then closes!! No error
messages...just gone! There are no problems re-opening Outlook but this
happens EVERY time that I try to scroll down the Contacts folder dropdown
list.

Can anybody please help, urgently?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, jvk57 asked:
