Outlook 2000 not checking mail server

As soon as I opened Outlook this morning and hit Send/Receive, I noticed it
was acting funny. It appeared to be checking the mail server, but it
happened literally in the blink of an eye...not nearly long enough to
actually connect to the mail server, let alone get any messages. I have 3
different accounts set up in Outlook (two pop server accounts and 1 Microsoft
Mail account) and it acted the same way for all three. I tested Outllok by
sending mail to my pop3 account via hotmail. It left hotmail fine, but now,
5 hours later, it's still not being picked up by Outlook. I also attempted
to check my Mircosoft Mail account using a co-workers computer. It left her
Outlook fine, but has yet to show up on my end. I've restarted my computer
(and Outlook itself) several times without luck. Any idea as to what's going
on??

What size is your data file? search to include hidden for *.pst (default
name is outlook.pst)
Did you try a Repair from the outlook help menu?

Thanks for responding. The .pst file is 2.48 MB. I tried a repair, but it's
telling me my Windows Installer is bad. I plan on updating Installer
tomorrow (I'm getting ready to leave for the day right now) and am hoping
that will take care of it. If not, I guess I'll just have to reinstall
Outlook, but I'm definately hoping for a faster solution. Any additional
feedback/ideas you have that would save me from having to reinstall would be
greatly appreciated!

An uninstall/reinstall rarely cures anything
Apart from the repair, you can also try scanpst.exe, the inbox repair tool
(with outlook closed) run it against your outlook.pst file, see if it
finds/repairs any err's
(scanpst is a hidden file)

I meant to respond back to this the next day, but wrapped up in other things
and didn't get around to it.

At any rate, I ended up upgrading to Outlook 2002 and this seems to have
resolved the issue, whatever it was. Thanks for your input.
