Hi,
An acquaintance of mine is running Terminal Services on Windows 2003 Server.
His users primarily use terminal services to use an Access 2000 database
application that runs on the server. This Access app has a feature that
allows users to send invoices via email. An invoice is converted to .rtf
format and sent out through the default email program, which is Outlook 2000.
Because Access is running on the terminal server, to get this to work, he
installed Outlook 2000 on the terminal server and created profiles for each
user who is logging on remotely. He got it to work this way, but his users
are having alot of trouble with Outlook. Sometimes messages get sent, but
other times they just get stuck in their Outbox and cannot be deleted.
My initial opinion is that he cannot expect this to work well because he is
using Outlook in a manner for which it was not intended. I was just
wondering if anyone has any experience in trying to run Outlook in terminal
server like this. If anyone could give me any recommendations, suggestions,
or advice, I would really appreciate it.
He needs to get this working and is not against spending money if I can come
up with a plan that would give him the functionality that he wants.
Thanks,
Paul
