Outlook 2000 Opens System32 folder

I would start by reloading Office - sounds like the path or program location
has either been lost or moved.

Try repairing (in Windows Explorer) the File Type option for .XLS files.

Despite that, did you try repairing the file association?

One of my users has been having a similar problem. After reading this entire
thread, I checked the file associations on my machine and compared them to
the file associations for Excel on her machine. I did need to repair the
association and now it works beautifully! Thank you so much for the
suggestion!

I knew it had something to do with the file type, but didn't make the
connection to check the association. thank you again!
