Outlook 2000 problem on closing

I run Outlook 2000 with Windows XP SP 2 on a Dell Dimension 4400 P4 1.7 Ghz
desktop. For some time I have noticed that after closing Outlook, the task
manager shows the Outlook.exe process stilll running. More recently, after
closing Outlook in the normal way, I have been receiving an error message
from Microsoft saying that Outlook must close and asking to report the error
to Microsoft. If I do, I receive a follow-up informing me that Microsoft no
longer supports Office 2000.

If, instead, I use task manager to close the Outlook.exe process, I get no
error message from Microsoft.

Is there anything I can/should do about this situation?

OL2k failing to close can be caused by apps, eg fax/sync software, com
addins, that interact with OL.
That been said you've run Detect/Repair, ensured Office is updated?

Thanks.
Yes, I have run Office repair, and so far as I know it was updated to the
latest Microsoft update before they stopped supporting the program.
I did have WinFax Pro installed but uninstalled it some time ago because of
multiple problems.
