I could use any pointers, suggestions, advice, URLs or whatever that might
help me REINSTALL OUTLOOK and IMPORT old Outlook file(s?) properly.
Here's my situation:
1. I WAS running Windows ME on my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop.
2. I WAS running whatever version of Outlook (I don't remember which) that
came with my Inspiron 8000 (I THINK I bought it in 2000??) at least in the
beginning.
3. I THINK my old company's I.T. guy bought Office 2000 Small Business and
somehow upgraded/updated my Outlook with that (would that make sense?),
sometime between 2000-2002. I do have some Office 2000 Small Business CDs
w/reg. key/labeling/packaging in my software collection, that I don't THINK
came OEM w/my Inspiron.
4. This month, my hard drive crashed, I bought new hard drive for it, and
installed XP on it.
5. I think (hope!) I've salvaged & backed up the data from my crashed hard
drive data (GetDataBack for FAT), and I see Outlook folder & files.
I THINK, to get my Outlook data (Contacts, Calendar, etc.) into my soon
to be re-installed Outlook 2000, what I need to pull off that old hard drive
data are files that are in my Application Data > Microsoft > Outlook folder.
The most recent files in that folder are:
* archive.pst file (96MB) modified 3/10/07
* AOL Inbox.pst (36MB) modified 3/10/07
* MS Exchange Settingsimap.aol.com-00000007.pst (1MB) modified 3/10/07
* outcmd.dat (4KB) modified 3/10/07
* MS Exchange Settings.NK2 (3KB) modified 3/9/07
After those files, the next biggest file-sized ones are:
* Outlook1.ost (31MB) modified 2/19/05
* outlook.ost (28MB) modified 11/13/02
* Outlook0.ost (18MB) modified 8/15/01
* Outlook1.pst (15MB) modified 8/8/06
* Ted'sOutlook.zip (12MB) modified 2/20/05
The rest of the files are less than 1MB
So, am I looking at the right stuff?
If so, what do I do with those?
Any suggestions for best installing Office 2000 Small Business (or its
Outlook) on my XP?
ANYTHING else I should know as I try to go through with this?
Thanks!!
