Outlook 2000: Remove hyperlink to network drive path containing space

In an email composition, I typed in a network drive path that contains
a space. Outlook 2000 interpretted the text upto the space as a link
(it is blue and underlined). I thought I could right-click and select
RemoveHyperlink, but there is no such option. The help is not helpful
about this. There doesn't seem to be a pulldown menu that allows
hyperlinks to be removed. I clicked on the link and was given a
choice to open or save it (no choice to remove the hyperlink). I
clicked Open, but then I just get a file browser.

How in world does one remove an unwanted (and erroneous) hyperlink?

Thanks.
