Outlook 2000 - task bar envelope icon

Phil

I created a Rule which permanently deletes any incoming message from a
particular address.

However, even though the rule works and the message is deleted, the
"you have mail" envelope still lights up in my taskbar. Then I have
to go into Outlook, realize there isn't any new message in the Inbox,
and then open and close any existing message in order to get that
envelope picture to disappear.

What I really want is not to be informed at all if such a message
arrives.

How do you do this?

Thank you for your help,
-Phil

You can't since the new message icon in the system tray is triggered by the
delivery of new mail. Rules work on messages after they are downloaded so
there is no way to distinguish between wanted mail and unwanted mail.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Phil asked:
