Outlook 2000 Very Slow

I have reduced the .pst file down from 1.1GB to 400MB, then compacted. New
Messages, Replies etc still take over 2 mins to open..

I have also unistalled all Add-Ins (based on a previous suggestion from here)

Can someone please help with any suggestions?

Does it run properly in safe mode?

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe (notice there is a space between outlook.exe
and /safe)
