Outlook 2000 will not run!

For the past several days, every time I try to run Outlook 2000, the window
itself opens normally; then the "waiting" icon shows up, so the process
appears to be going to the next step, but then the window simply vanishes! No
error message, no nothing! The window stays open just long enough for me to
see if any messages have managed to sneak in from my web server (which I CAN
use, when I must), so then I can contact those senders and ask them to send
the message again to my old msn account.

Last week, instead of vanishing, the process would "freeze" so I would have
to close it....when I would try to find out details of what was going on,
Microsoft reminded me that Outlook 2000 was no longer supported and that I
should upgrade to Outlook 2007.

I should add that my problems with Outlook actually started several months
ago when it would take a half-dozen attempts to get it to open, after going
through all sorts of voodoo and mild cursing. However, now I'm in a real
fix, since I use it for my business, and I don't know if I have any
appointments on Friday!!! ;-)

My IT guy is on vacation. Help!!!!

Well, after I finally found the Event Viewer, the only activity I can see
after trying to open Outlook is under Application -- It shows several events
occurring at the same time: TYPE "Warning!" - SOURCE - "MsiInstaller" -
CATEGORY "None" - EVENT "1001" and "1004"....perhaps if I had a clue about
what I am looking at, it would make more sense, but I'm totally clueless. I
have gone to "how-to-outlook.com" and have already tried a couple of those
suggestions....opening with the / safe switch has the identical result, so I
cannot diable add-ons. I think I'll try renaming outcmd.dat, since I think
that's something I can handle! Any other suggestions?

The /safe switch doesn't load the outcmd.dat file so that probably isn't the
cause of your crashes.

An easy thing that you can do is inserting the Office 2000 CD, start setup
and tell it to repair Office. After this run Office Update to make sure you
have Office 2000 Service Pack 3 installed and additional updates.
