I would say that it depends on the OS. 9x-based OSes (95/98/98SE/ME) were
never designed to be secure (here I use the locked door in middle of field
analogy). However, if you're running an NT-based system (NT/2000/XP) then
it's probably possible, but I'm not awake enough at the moment to tell you
how to do it!

if you are using a pst then this can be password protected, right click the
root folder > Properties > Advanced > Change Password > Don't save the
password in your password list
