outlook 2001 spellcheck

I have panther and outlook 2001. The spellcheck does not work in
outlook. It will work when I rebuild the desktop in classic, but then
a few days later, the spellcheck stops working. Any suggestions other
than rebuilding the desktop every few days??? I have rebuilt
permissions in os x also.
