Outlook 2001

We recently converted to Exchange Server 2003 and are
running PCs and Macs (OS 9). Will be upgrading the Macs
to OS X in two weeks. Can we still run the Outlook 2001
or do we have to go to Entourage X? Also, best
documentation for features of Exchange and Outlook 2001
(or Entourage)? I'm in the dark... HELP

If you keep OS 9 installed along with Panther Outlook 2001 will launch and
allow you to to connect to your Exchange Server as you are accustomed to. If
you have a terminal server at your facility you might want to try
Microsoft's free app RDC (Remote Desktop Connection) which will allow you to
access your Outlook mail, calendars, etc. directly within Windows. Your Macs
simply become dumb terminals that can run any application that is installed
on the Terminal Server. Very fast connection, very reliable, and no need to
keep OS 9... Just be certain that your IT department gives you the necessary
permissions to access a directory on the Terminal Server, or a share that
the terminal server can see, for retrieving email attachments. Drag and drop
from the Terminal Server to your Mac OSX desktop will not work.

You can run outlook 2001 in OS X with the classic mode i.e you need to
installed OS9 also in OS X, so when outlook 2001 luanched it launches the OS
9 in the classic mode. you go to www.mactopia.com for further documentation
on the OL2001 and exchange connectivity.
