Since I installed the latest updates to Office XP and to
Internet Explorer 6.0 I can not get Oulook 2002 to open.
It gives the error message "Outlook 2002 requires Internet
Explorer 4.0 or higher and Outlooke Express to operate."
I am running IE6 SP1 as well as the updated version of
Outlook Express. I have Windows XP SP2 and Office XP SP2.
I have been going round and round with a Microsoft Tech
for about a week now. She had me to uninstall IE6 (You
have to do this through the Windows Setup in Add/Remove
Programs), and then download IE6 SP1 from the website.
When you try to install IE6 SP1, it gives the error
message "The program you are trying to install has not
pass Windows Logo testing to verify it's compatibility
with Windows XP. This software will not be installed."
Then it looks like it's installing and it gives another
message"Setup was unable to install all the components.
Please close all applications and try running setup again."
I have tried this numerous times, always with the same
result. Everytime you restart the computer, it tries to
go through setup again. If you tell it yes to either
resume setup or to begin from scratch, it gives ANOTHER
message "It appears you have the correct setup files, but
the installation failed. Try closing all other programs
and try running setup again. If that still doesn't
workcontact Microsoft Product Support Services for
additional help." What I am getting from them is that I
may have to do a repair install of Windows XP, which could
cause me to lose data. Can't afford to do that, but I
also desperately need my Contacts.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any
suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
