Outlook 2002 and Norton Internet Security 2005

C

Chet Swanson

I use two Windows XP Home computers, a desktop and a laptop. Both computers
have Office 2002 Professional installed on them. I installed Norton Internet
Security 2005 on both computers about 10 days ago.

(That's an entirely different story that may make me quit using Symantec
products in the future.)

Ever since the installation of NIS 2005 I have had two consistent problems
when using Outlook 2002. As background, on both computers I have an Outlook
2002 profile set up for myself and my wife. So, we regularly switch from one
profile to another as we check out own email, etc.

PROBLEM #1:

To emphasize; this problem never occurred prior to the installation of NIS
2005. Any time we try to load Outlook 2002 for the other users (e.g. I was
using Outlook and now my wife wants to use it or vice versa), we get this
error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE

Abnormal program termination

Click OK and the Outlook 2002 closes. When you open again, it works, except
that since it was an "abnormal" termination, Outlook 2002 goes through the
process of checking all of its data files.

PROBLEM #2:

Again, this problem never occurred prior to the installation of NIS 2005.
With the two profiles in Outlook 2002 we were able to have two different
signature files on our email. When I sent email, one signature block was
included with the message. And, when my wife sent email, her unique
signature block was included.

Ever since the installation of NIS 2005, Outlook 2002 uses the same
signature no matter which profile we are using.

I would sincerely appreciate any helpful suggestions or comments.

Thanks,

Chet
