outlook 2002 and outlook XP

Hello! I got a new computer with Outlook XP, and am trying to transfer my
outlook information (contacts, calendar dates, emails, etc.) over to my new
computer from my old computer with outlook 2002. I copied and pasted the .pst
file into the appropriate place, but I keep getting this message that says:

"A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in outlook.
Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected it may be a virus and you
should choose no."

I keep clicking yes, but more and more boxes just keep coming up, and it
won't let me do anything. I can see that it has my calendar dates because
behind all the boxes is the "outlook today" thing that has my appointments in
it. How can I fix this and get back to business?

Outlook 2002 == Outlook XP

So it is expected? This notification is caused by a 3rd party application.
Find out which application that is and contact the vendor for an update.
Properly and securely programmed applications will not raise this security
prompt in Outlook.

Huh? Can you explain that to me like I'm an idiot because I have no idea what
I'm doing. All I did was copy and paste the .pst file according to directions
another MVP gave me, but I didn't realize that one outlook was 2002 and
another was xp. Are the directions different? As for the message, I didn't
expect it--I never got it on my old computer. I clicked yes and it just kept
popping back up. Even though I copied and pasted the .pst file, do I need to
re-do the email set up? Is that it? If so, how do I do that?

As Roady said - Outlook 2002 and Outlook XP are the same thing!
Are the directions different?

No. However in your original post you said that you pasted the pst file
"into the appropriate place". What do you mean by that? Where EXACTLY did
you paste it?
