I'm trying to use Webroot's Spam Shredder with Outlook XP. It seems to
install correctly, but after starting the mail program, all the account
settings are overwritten to the pre-installation status. I can manually
reset them, chaning the incoming server to 127.0.0.1 and the port setting to
the one listed in Spam Shredder and it all works fine. However, closing down
Outlook and restarting it, all the settings are back to the previous state.
I've tried switching off anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware protection,
and I get the same result. My conclusion is that it's something WITHIN
Outlook: in other words Outlook is restoring all previous account settings
on start up. What makes me suspicious is that when restarting Outlook, it
takes several seconds to initialize.
I'm sure this is all well and good to stop some script kiddie screwing with
your email, but I *want* the settings to change.
Has anyone got any idea how I can get Spam Shredder to install?
