Outlook 2002 Auto Preview

I am having a problem with the auto preview feature in Outlook 2002.
Whenever I open it, it wants to display all my messages with the auto preview
feature on. I keep turning it off but it always changes back when I close
out and log back in. Can anyone explain what might be the issue?
