Everything was fine yesterday, today my Outlook 2002 would not open. I tried
system restore, and that does not correct the problem either. I have Windows
XP Pro edition running on a Dell 8250.
Problem:
Error message received: Microsoft has encountered a problem and wants to
restart Outlook in Safe Mode.
Outlook will not start in Safe Mode - all I get is a blank screen.
Then I get another error:
WINDOWS INSTALLER error: "The installation source for this product is not
available. Verify that source exists and you can access it."
When I click on the "OK" button, nothing happens.
I used to be able to receive automatic updates, however, when I went to see
about an Office Update on the Microsoft website, and it finished the process
I got an error message telling me "Office Update is unable to check for
updates"
Now it's either the installer patch file (.MSP files) are missing or the
installer is not the correct version.
What do I do to get my Outlook 2002 program to function again? It is
extremely important for me to be able to receive automatic updates also.
Could these be related problems?
I've also downloaded the SP3 file update
(OfficeXp3-kb-832671-client-enu.exe), although I haven't reinstalled it yet
and wasn't sure if I should. I noticed on my other office programs that they
are SP3.
What should I do to get Outlook back?
Thank you,
Diane
