I am using Outlook 2002 SP-2 on Windows 2000 Professional
with the latest service pack installed. Messages are
delivered first to a main server mailbox, then Outlook
receives them into a "Personal Folders" directory on a
network-attached drive.
I subscribed to a couple of email lists, and set up rules
through the Rules Wizard to automatically refile list
messages to separate folders.
Ever since, Outlook frequently (but not always) hangs
immediately after refiling in incoming message. I have
watched the sequence:
(1) message appears in Inbox
(2) message disappears from Inbox
(3) unread counter for the proper folder increases by 1
(4) Outlook stops dead. No more messages arrive, calendar
reminders stop...everything stops.
When I try to close Outlook, I get the standard "This
program is not responding" box, and Outlook restarts. It
works fine until a subsequent message arrives from an
email list.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
