I am running Outlook 2002 on XP Pro, receiving mail from a POP3 account. The
Junk Email filter and Rules do not appear to be functioning correctly when
new mail is received, and I am at a loss for how to fix this.
Example:
I have added the domains 0451.com and mail.ru to my Junk Senders list.
There are clearly on the list when I view it. However, this morning I
received 4 new messages from senders at those domains, and the junk filter
did nothing to stop or redirect them.
Another example:
I used the Rules Wizard to create a rule that any message with the word
"Hoodia" in the subject or body should be moved to the SPAM folder. The rule
is set for when a message arrives. However, this morning I received a
message with content advertising Hoodia, and Outlook did not detect or move
it. Upon seeing it, I went into the Rules Wizard and selected Run Now for
that particular rule. Upon doing that, Outlook did move the offending
message to SPAM.
I don't understand why the Rules aren't being applied when messages first
arrive, and why receipients on the Junk Senders list aren't also being moved.
I've gone through all my settings and cannot find any obvious reason for
this. My Junk Email controls are clearly turned on.
I'm at a loss. Can you please help?
