Hey everyone, this is just a general FYI
System: Windows XP Pro, SP1
Outlook: Outlook 2002 (Part of Office XP)
Like several that have experienced these problems where, for no good
reason, Outlook 2002 (Outlook XP, whatever) has decided to forget and
lose all user customized settings. About 3 years ago I quickly learned
to move my PST files out of my windows profile, so I was able to
regather my actual data files easily, and make a backup in case
anything *really* bad was about to happen.
I was at a loss, however, as to how to restore my rules, filters,
e-mail accounts (I have around 6), and other settings. I searched the
groups, and the majority opinion seems to be that a user is SOL when
this happens.
For kicks I decided to give System Restore a try and after a reboot,
everything was back to normal. Nothing was lost at all. Everything was
just as it was.
The moral? All you power users that don't want the performance hit,
turn the bloody feature *back on* because it could save you a few
hours of heartache.
Good day!
