Suddenly, without any changes to my computer; except MS auto-updates; Outlook
2002 doesn't want to open. It pops up an error box declaring thatit needs
Outlook Express v4.
I have Express 6.0 on my computer but, use Thunderbird. All has been well
until now.
While reading a thread titled: 'Changing from Outlook Express 6.0 to Outlook
2002', I discovered someone else had the same problem. An MVP named 'BillR'
gave a solution envolving a registry key;
[Sart] [Run] [regedit]
Registry Key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{44BBA840-CC51-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}
Modify/Create the Value Data type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data TypeWORD// Value Name: Isinstalled
Setting for Value Data:
Exit Registry
The instructions were easy to follow, but the key in question doesn't exist.
there is no key; {44BBA840-CC51-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}, there are similiar keys
but not with the 840 in them.
Q: Can I simply create this key; if so, how do I do it properly. if someone
can tell me exactly what to write and where to place it, I can follow
instructions carefully.
Thanks in advance!
