Outlook 2002 Only Opens in Safe Mode

Hello,

I am running a P4 2.6 Celeron using XP Home Edition. I have Office 2000
SR-1. I purchased a new IPAQ 5550 which came with Outlook 2002 which I
installed and used without a problem. I then purchased Franklin Covey Plan
Plus v2. After having some initial installation problems I finally got
everything installed. However, when I try to open Outlook I get an error
report and a prompt to open Outlook in safe mode. I tried the support at
Franklin Covey who said it was an issue with Outlook and to check with
Microsoft. I could not find anything on their site to help. Any help with
this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried disabling your installed add-ins, such as the sync software
for the IPAQ and the Franklin Covey software, to see if they are the
culprits?

Yes, I uninstalled everything and then re-installed Outlook only and with
just Outlook installed it gave me the same error. I believe somewhere
during the installation process a file or something that Outlook uses was
altered and during the uninstall was not changed back to its original
state.

I would still check for add-ins in Tools | Options | Other | Advanced
Options | Add-In Manager and COM Add-Ins. Reinstalling Outlook doesn't
necessarily delete those files. You can also try renaming or deleting the
following files: outcmd.dat, extend.dat and frmcache.dat. Depending on
your operating system version, those files may be hidden, so search in
hidden and system folders.

Changing the outcmd.dat file name worked. You have relieved me of much
frustration!

Thanks
