Outlook 2002 Pop Settings

Michael

I have several clients all pointing to their respective
exchange server pop mail accounts. For some unknown
reason the pop server entry seems to default to localhost
no matter how many times I change it to the mail server
address. I am pulling my hair out on this one. It
started with one client, and seems to be spreading. Out
of 9 clients getting mail via the pop server 4 of them
are now showing this behaviour. Any ideas on how to make
the server address actually stick? Also as a side note
whenever it (randomly) decides to go back to localhost it
also changes the username to user/domain. I am not sure
if this is an outlook problem or an exchange problem.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I can
not seem to find anything on the MS web site that would
explain this behaviour.

Are you using an antivirus program to scan incoming e-mail, or are you using
a proxy server? Either of those may be the culprit. Try temporarily
disabling those and see if that takes care of the problem. If so, you
should contact the antivirus or proxy server manufacturer and see if they
have a later version available that does not change the server names.
