I have been using Outlook 2002 on Windows XP for a few years now. Last week,
I was no longer able to access Outlook. When I attempted to open the
application, I received the following error:
"Unable to open yoru default e-mail folders. The file ____/Outlook.pst is
not a personal folders file."
The Outlook.pst file exists, but I am unable to access it. I have since
created a new pst folder with a different name, and Outlook is now opening
and I am receiving new email. However, I cannot access any of my old
information - email, contacts, folders, etc.
Is there anyway to change the original Outlook.pst to make it a personal
folders file? If not, how can I retrieve my old information? I am desperately
trying to retrieve an email message.
I have absolutely no idea how this happened, as the system was operating
fine. I am not computer illiterate, but I am not Outlook saavy. Help, please!
