Outlook 2002 reinstall

R

Rowland Costin

Hi

Had problems with one of our PC's and could no longer get access, so had to
reinstall Windows XP pro from scratch. I took the opportunity to install the
PC correctly in the domain and set up a new machine name. Lastly
reinstalled Outlook 2002.

Need to now pick up the address book and the old inbox.

1) Is the file I need outlook.pst?

2) What is the correct default install path,
eg C:\Documents and settings\"User.Domain"\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

3) Can I just replace the new file created with the old one, assuming I can
find it? Or does the data have to be imported?

Thanks

Rowland

1. Yes
2/ Yes or you can put it anywhere you want.
3. Import is bad but will work. Sometimes replacing the pst creates
problems. Another option is using file, open and opening the old pst then
setting it as the default - you may need to enable the contacts as an
address book. Or make a new profile and add the old pst before completing
the profile setup.
