I have WinXP Home, Office XP (Outlook 2002) just freshly installed, applied
WinXP SPs and Office SPs. When I open Outlook, I can work for about 30sec to
5mins, then Outlook freezes, shows as two tasks in the Taskmanager (even
though there is only one Outlook.exe in Processes) and shows absolute fantasy
numbers as to the memory used by Outlook (as low as 526kb the other day),
changing those number apparently at random. I deleted the whole "outlook"
folder in my profile, started with various options, deleted the rules,
created a new profile, removed pop3 accounts, to no avail. Before
reinstalling my computer, I had saved my office settings with that wizard and
reapplied them after the new install - can that cause the problem? I
repartitioned my HDD and so the path to the pst files changed (which I
obviously had to correct before using Outlook). I'm grateful for any help.
