Outlook 2002 takes ages to delete (move from Sent Items to Deleted

Hi everyone,

the title pretty much describes the problem. I have a remote site connected
to my Exchange over a 512k link. The user experience no slowness during the
day apart from the time when they need to select all and move the emails to
the deleted items folder from the sent items. (average 50 emails and 20MB).
This might take up to 20 minutes! Emptying the deleted items folder only
takes seconds.

Can you tell me if this is by design or when exactly the Outlook client
needs to contact Exchange and what for. This is driving me (and them) insane.
