I am running Outlook 2002 on Windows XP, professional edition partition of my
dual boot computer (XP and 98). It is a bundled version of Outlook which came
with my smartphone, and thus impacts both the Outlook program and my
smartphone functionality. Outlook keeps opening a Windows Installer dialogue
box to reinstall almost every time I try to access Outlook and sometimes even
without trying to access that program. I have reinstalled following the
dialogue box directions; have also uninstalled and reinstalled program. It
further displays Outlook.exe file is missing. If I designate the browser to
where the files are, I get a partial opening of the program and another box
telling me Outlook.msi cannot be located, and the following error: "Error
1706: Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the
network, or CD-Rom drive. For other potential solutions to this problem see
e:\Program Files\MicrosoftOffice\Office10\1033\Setup.hlp.
FYI, this location has empty office files? As a matter of interest all the
office files appear empty when I access them now. Also I have installed this
program on a separate drive from my operating systems (so I am able to backup
and restore independent of my operating systems). Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance. Janet
