I am trying to solve a settings problem for a friend of mine who is using
Outlook 2003 and Verizon DSL. The PC is running XP SP2
When I go through the wizard for the POP3 email settings, all the
information is entered correctly for the Server Information for the
incoming/outgoing mail server. Everything works fine when testing the
account settings and the info is saved. The problem is that everytime
Outlook is closed or the PC is rebooted and Outlook is re-opened, the
incoming mail server defaults back to "localhost". The settings for Incoming
mail server has to be re-entered. In addition, after User Name, it appends
the username with "/incoming.verizon.net" and that has to be deleted along
with re-entering the POP3 info. Verizon claims that it is a mail client
issue (I doubt it) and will not provide support. Any ideas on how to resolve
this problem?
