This is definitely getting weird. I have confirmed that the first Name is in
the first name field and last name is in the last name field by opening the
contact in outlook and select the "Full Name" box. I opened one of the
contacts that was being displayed incorrectly in outlook and used the "File
As" drop down selection to change it from Last, First to First Last and saved
the change. I then reopened the adress book and the contact was sorted
properly by First Last. I then reopened the contact in Outlook and changed
the "File As" drop down back to the default Last, First and saved the
contact. I opened up the address book again and it was still sorted properly
First Last just like I wanted. So I did this with the other 30 contact that
were not sorted properely and everything was perfect. I then noticed that
one of the contacts phone number changed so I opened up the contact changed
the phone number and saved the change and then it reverted back to being
sorted in the address book Last, First. So I had to do the File As routine
to get it to sort properly again. I have no idea what the problem is and why
it only affects only these 30 contacts. The only idea I may have is that I
have a windows Mobile 2005 Pocket PC phone that syncs directly with our
exchange server. I know I have entered some of these contacts in the mobile
outlook application on the phone but definitely not all of them.

I would like my contacts sorted by there first name. The problem is no
matter what I do there are approx 30 contacts out of the 300 that will
not
sort by first name. I have played with the sorting order under
Tools/Email
Accounts/View or change directories or address books and changing the
properities of the address book from First Last to Last, First. When
in
the
Last, First mode all the contacts are sorted correctly but I don't like
it
that way. When I change it back to First Last then I still have approx
30
contacts that are sorted by Last, First.

So what is your question? State more clearly how you want the Outlook
Address Book to sort. The choices appear fairly obvious. Exporting to
another file format tells you nothing. Examine the data directly in
Outlook
if you want to see how name elements are parsed.

My outlook address book has most of my 300 contacts sorted by
FirstName
LastName. However there are about 30 contact that are sorted by
LastName,
FirstName. If I change the properties of the address book to file
as
Lastname, Firstname then everything is sorted correctly but I don't
like
it
that way. I have verified that the first names and last names are
in
the
appropriat fields by eporting the addressbook toa csv file and
opening
in
excell.
Any ideas? I'm confused.
