We have a Sun ldap server which will have all our our accounts and
groups in. Some of our users want to use Outlook (mainly 2003) as
their email client using imap for email and ldap for the global
address list. This works in a fashion but there are a few issues(!).
Firstly, in the address book window if I select the ldap directory
server and start typing then no results appear. I have to actually
perform a search (is this the expected action - from reading other
posts I suspect it maybe).
Secondly, and more importantly for us it the issue of groups (Exchange
distribution lists). Although we have groups in our ldap server and
these are email enabled (outlook finds them and is happy to email
them) there seems no way in outlook to a)tell that it is a group and
not just a user and b)no way to list the members of the group.
Pointing outlook at exchange enables all of these features - is there
anyway to get this working against a non-exchange server??
