Outlook 2003 and Exchange Server 2007 - Outlook Anywhere Remote Ac

Our company has Exchange Server 2007 configured correctly to allow remote
access. I am running Windows XP pro SP3 and I have Outlook 2003 on my home
computer. I cannot get an email exchange account to access my work email
from home. It works with a Mac laptop quickly and easily, but no one can get
a PC running Windows to make the connection. What are we missing that keeps
from making this work, but allows a Mac to do so??

Assuming that you are trying to connect via RPC over HTTPS, what happens if
you open your web browser and try to access it via:

https://exchange.server.name/rpc

Outlook and Entourage use different protocols to get at the Exchange
content.

How is it configured in Outlook? You need to use rpc over https or VPN for
full access to the exchange acct.

I get a message saying page not found . If I understand correctly, type in
the same as the exchange server?

The email client is Outlook on both the PC and the Mac, and the settings are
being done exactly the same.

What email client do you use on the mac and how is the acct configured?
How is it configured in Outlook? You need to use rpc over https or VPN for
full access to the exchange acct.

Can't you use Outlook Webmail Access.

https://servername/exchange

There must be an MX record for your mailserver.
Ask your system administrator for the (external) name of the exchange
server.

You mean access the email through the company website and log in to my email,
yes. But I need to send out multiple emails through a mail merge from word,
from my home computer, and the mail merge will not put the emails to a web
based client. it has to have a computer based email client like Outlook.

The big question is why this works on a Mac, and not with Windows??

Yes, type in the name of the exchange server since I want to find out if you
get any prompts about a certificate. So please try the url...

https://name.of.your.exchange.server/rpc


If you are getting a 404 page not found, then it is quite possible that the
RPC component on your Windows 2003/2008 server has not be installed or
Exchange 2007 hasn't been configured using the OutlookAnywhere cmdlets.

I get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. According to the IT
dept. the web exchange server is configured correctly, and a Mac laptop
connects with no issues using Outlook. It is only pc's running windows that
don't connect.

Again, Mac clients use webdav and not rpc over https. If you are getting a
404, then it means the rpc proxy component has not been installed or Outlook
Anywhere is not configured properly. The reason that I say this is that
opening your browser and typing in https://name.of.exchange.server/rpc (or
http://name.of.exchange.server/rpc) should net you an authentication dialog
box.

I just tried again, I had been leaving off the 's' in https, and now I
get.......

"There is a problem with this website's security certificate"

When I click on "continue to this website" I get the page not found.

I don't know if this helps, but still no luck on my end.
