Outlook 2003 and messenger

Hi
When I installed WinXP on my PC, I also installed Windows messenger.
Later I wanted to use the new user interface in MSN messenger, so I
installed that.

I have a problem with Outlook 2003. When windows messenger is signed in, it
works fine. I can see if the sender is on or off line when I go through my
mail.

However, when I start MSN messenger, this does not work anymore.

Any suggestions?

I was wondering if this was the case - as the on-line help (under "About Instant Messaging") from Outlook 2003 implies it is possible to use MSN messenger:

"Instant Messaging is a feature of Microsoft Windows Messenger, Microsoft MSN Messenger, and the Microsoft Exchange Instant Messaging Service. With Instant Messaging, you can communicate with your contacts in real time as you would during an in-person conversation."

I read that to mean that MSN Messenger would work with Outlook 2003 - and then spent several hours uninstalling and reinstalling things to try and make it work. Shame MS couldn't get it working really as MSN Messenger 6.1 is *much* better from my perspective than the old Windows Messenger.

Just my (frustrated) thoughts

Tom
