Have a Exchange server 5.5. We leave the mail on the server. We have limits
set up. All of our clients are running Outlook 2003 with few problems. I had
one user still on Outlook 2000 that recently started to have problems
archiving. I did a detech and repair but that did not help. Unistalled
Office 2003. It still did not work. I built a new archive.pst using Outllok
2003. Imported all the archives into this file. Did a Scanpst.exe and found
a few problems. Archiveing would still not work. It looks like it runs but
nothing is moved. The dates are ok, the destination file is new and ok. Gone
into the Exchange server and took off the limits for this user. Still the
same problem. Bulit and 2nd .pst and downloaed all the users mail form the
server to this new file. Did a scanpst on this new file and it found two
problems. It created a backup and repaired the file. The orginal file had
3775 emails and was 453MB in size. After the Scanpst.exe the file went down
to 236Kb. All data lost. I opened it and there was nothing in it. I was
able to recover the file from a backup and I do not want to run the scanpst
again. But I still have this problem. I had also, after moving all the suer
mail from the mail server to a seperate file, deleted the user form the
Exchange server and added the user back again. All of this and still I am
not able to achive. 1 interesting thing is the INBOX would not archive but
the sent items folder would. I double and triple checked to be sure that to
archive all folders even if the were set to not archive and there are not set
not to archive anyway. My last thought is there is one email in the users
mailbaox that is bad but how do I find it and not run the risk of losing
everything again. My last solution is to move the usrs older emails
manually. Maybe this would eventually solve my problem by moving the
possible corrupt email manually. Any thoughts?
